I have never tried freekeh, but certainly if I can get hold of it I will try it. I love any wheat. I hope you like the stew. <br /><br />Barbara, I have a buckwheat flour as well and use it to make breton galletes. I will always recommend buckweat especially to people from outside the central and eastern Europe, where is quite popular. I have never tried buckwheat but lately have seen it displayed in the middle-eastern stores; it reminds me of our freekeh, the roasted green wheat, a very rustic and nutritious type of wheat; I can't wait to try buckwheat next time I will get a package and try your stew.
